ITALY PART III: The Duomo, Milano

The Duomo, Milano


I wanted to share some of my photographs of the rest of our Italian Trip, in Milan as I was rather enthralled by the stunning architecture, statues spires and enormity of the Duomo Cathedral. 

The Milan Duomo/Cathedral is the oldest and fifth largest church in the world and took over six centuries to complete. It has the most statues than any other building in the world. The 52 columns, one for each week of the year, are divided into 5 naves which can hold up to 40'000 people.  You can read more about it in here

ITALY Part II: Peggy Guggenheim and La Galleria

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is a Modern Art Museum, situated on the Grand Canal in Venice. The Palazzo Venier dei Lenno, an unfinished Palace, is were the Museum is located and was the home of Peggy. The Museum opened in 1980.

We visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, during our stay in Venice, Italy, see Part I.  I had permission to take these photographs in the Museum.  I have chosen only a selected few images, to share with you, as the Museum obviously has an extensive range of Modern Art.

La Galleria

Gallerie Accademia, is one of the most ancient lay fraternal orders of the City. It houses amongst a collection of Venetian paintings, which influenced European Art. These photographs just highlight some of the masterpieces from the collection.
